Job Description for Bancassurance Officer

Position Title: Bancassurance Officer
Department: Sales / Insurance
Reports to: Senior Manager -Credit Operations
Location: NSSF Building Kaloleni Arusha Town
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Overview:

The Bancassurance Officer will be responsible for driving the sales and distribution of insurance products through the microfinance network. The role involves building strong relationships with existing clients, identifying their insurance needs, and recommending suitable products. The Bancassurance Officer will also work closely with the microfinance staff to promote insurance offerings and ensure targets are met in a collaborative and customer-centric manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales and Revenue Generation:
    • Promote and sell insurance products (life and general,) through the microfinance branch network.
    • Achieve sales targets and KPIs by actively identifying and engaging potential clients.
    • Cross-sell insurance products to existing microfinance customers and assist them in selecting appropriate policies based on their needs.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with Microfinance clients, understanding their financial and insurance needs.
    • Collaborate with the microfinance Credit officers to provide tailored insurance solutions to customers.
    • Educate and guide customers about the various insurance products offered by the Microfinance.
  • Product Knowledge and Training:
    • Stay updated on all insurance products, policies, and the regulatory environment.
    • Provide training and support to microfinance staff on how to identify insurance opportunities and explain product benefits.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure all sales and transactions comply with regulatory standards and company policies.
    • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales, and insurance policy details.
    • Assist customers with filling out application forms and necessary documentation for insurance policies.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide excellent customer service, addressing any concerns or queries related to insurance policies.
    • Guide customers through the claims process, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Reporting and Analytics:
    • Track and report on sales performance, client feedback, and market trends to management.
    • Analyze customer data to identify sales opportunities and improve sales strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
    • Diploma in business related courses.
    • Additional certifications in insurance or financial services (e.g., IRDA, CFP) are an advantage.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in sales, preferably in insurance or financial services.
    • Experience in banking/Microfinance or bancassurance is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong sales, negotiation, and closing skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
    • Good understanding of insurance products and industry regulations.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
