Aga Khan Health Service, Tanzania (AKHST) – an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network(AKDN), a not-for-profit international organization that supports social development programs in Tanzania. It has completed a major expansion to position the institution to become a leading and integrated tertiary and teaching health care system in Tanzania.

As part of its health systems strengthening initiatives in working with and supporting Government health programmes, AKHST and (BMZ / KFW) are partnering on a new comprehensive COVID 19 vaccination project aiming at increasing access to and scaling up COVID 19 vaccination through Private Public Partnership (PPP) with Tanzanian-based partners: Regional and Council Health Management Teams in delivering a full range of vaccination services. The Project implementation areas include; Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Arusha, Morogoro Coastal Regional and Tabora.

AKHST is seeking for enthusiastic and qualified experienced personnel for the following positions to be part of this exciting project:

COMMUNITY COORDINATOR (2 POSITIONS)

Reporting to: The Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Coordinator will lead the community engagement and outreach program to promote C0VID19 vaccination. He/she will be responsible to engage Local Stakeholders, Institutions, Health Facilities and diverse communities in project target Regions, facilitate and collaborate with Local Public Health Authorities and other partners to help project team navigate networks, systems and organizations to influence the project activities.

Ensure community mobilization, outreach and campaign activities are well coordinated with Government Authorities, build capacity of stakeholders and serve as a spokesperson to actively raise awareness and visibility. He/she will be responsible for creating annual and monthly work plans in consultation with Project Manager, and then updating these work-plans on a weekly basis and ensuring compliance

Education and Experience requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing, Mass Communication, Public Health or related fields.
  • Minimum Three (3) years of professional experience in Public Health Project coordination and/or Administrative support.
  • In-depth knowledge of State and Local Public Health Systems
  • Experience advancing health equity through culturally competent and equity-centered
  • Experience in education and/or youth-serving enterprises is desired strategy development in a diverse, multicultural, and multi-lingual work environment
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Team player and team builder/leader
  • Proven results-based Community programme management
