Activities and Requirements

Job Summary:

The company is seeking a highly skilled and responsible Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation services. The role involves operating company vehicles to transport personnel,  equipment,  and materials  while  ensuring  strict  compliance with  road  safety  regulations  and  company policies.  The  Driver  will  also  be responsible  for  maintaining  the vehicle  in  good condition  and assisting  with logistical support as required.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

1. Transporting Personnel and Cargo

•   Safely transport company personnel, visitors, and materials to designated locations, ensuring punctuality and adherence to company protocols.

•   Handle the transportation of construction equipment, tools, and essential supplies to various project sites.

•   Ensure proper loading and unloading of cargo, securing items to prevent damage during transit.

•   Follow safety regulations when transporting hazardous materials, if applicable.

2. Vehicle Maintenance & Care

•   Conduct routine vehicle inspections, checking engine performance, brakes, tires, oil levels, and fuel to ensure roadworthiness.

•   Keep company vehicles clean, well-maintained, and in compliance with safety standards.

•   Promptly report any malfunctions, damages, or required repairs to the fleet supervisor.

•   Coordinate with the maintenance team for scheduled servicing and necessary mechanical repairs.

•   Monitor fuel usage and optimize efficiency by planning effective travel routes.

  1. Navigation & Route Planning
  • Discuss and plan the most efficient alternative and safe travel routes based on road conditions, weather, and operational schedules.
  • Navigate diverse terrains, including urban and remote areas, ensuring timely deliveries and safe travel.
  • Utilize GPS navigation, maps, and local knowledge to identify optimal travel paths.
  1. Documentation & Record Keeping
  • Maintain accurate logs of all trips, including departure and arrival times, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
  • Submit trip reports detailing completed deliveries, personnel transportation, and encountered challenges.
  • Keep updated records of vehicle maintenance, service schedules, and repair history.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies regarding transportation documentation and reporting.
  1. 5. Safety and Compliance
  • Strictly adhere to local traffic laws, company safety regulations, and international transportation standards.
  • Ensure all passengers use seatbelts and follow safety guidelines while in transit.
  • Ensure the vehicle complies with environmental and emission standards.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear, such as high-visibility vests and seatbelts, when on duty.
  • Maintain a clean driving record by practicing defensive driving and avoiding traffic violations.
  1. 6. Handling Emergency Situations
  • Respond quickly and appropriately in case of vehicle breakdowns, road accidents, or other emergencies.
  • Provide assistance in emergency situations, including first aid, and coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
  • Ensure the vehicle is always equipped with emergency supplies such as a first- aid kit, fire extinguisher, and emergency contact numbers.
  • Follow company emergency response procedures for personnel evacuation or urgent medical transport when required.
  1. 7. Communication and Coordination
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with supervisors, logistics teams, and other personnel regarding schedules and travel plans.
  • Promptly report any travel delays, road closures, or issues affecting transport efficiency.
  • Assist in liaising with local authorities for security, traffic control, or special permits when necessary.
  • Provide status updates and follow instructions to support operational efficiency.
  1. 8. Customer/Client Service
  • Exhibit professionalism, courtesy, and excellent customer service when interacting with company personnel, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure passengers experience a comfortable, safe, and professional transport service.
  • Uphold the company’s reputation by being reliable, punctual, and maintaining a professional demeanour.
  1. 9. Adherence to Environmental Standards
  • Minimize environmental impact by following best practices for fuel efficiency and emissions reduction.
  • Follow company policies regarding waste disposal and vehicle-related environmental practices.
  • Adhere to environmental safety protocols, especially when driving through ecologically sensitive areas.

Job Requirements

  • Valid driving license (Class C, D & E)
  • Education:

o Driving Certificate (from NIT or VETA is an added advantage)

o Defensive Driving Certificate is an added advantage.

  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English language is preferred.
  • Experience:

o Minimum 3 years of driving experience, with a good track record in driving commercial vehicles.

o Must be able to handle the physical demands of driving long distances

  • Technical Skills:

o Understanding of vehicle maintenance and the ability to perform basic repairs and troubleshooting.

o Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices for driving in construction or industrial environments.

o Knowledge of environments.
