JOB VACANCY – Health Promoter Supervisor
Title: Health Promoter Supervisor
Duration: 12 months (Fixed Term Contract) – Full time position (100%)
Direct Reports: Deputy Medical Team Leader / Medical Team Leader
Location: Nduta Camp and Kibondo (Kigoma Region)
Objectives of the position:
With the support and guidance of the Deputy PMR/ PMR/HPCE Manager, responsible for implementing the HPCE strategy / workplan, with community participation, and supervising the HPCE activities and HP teams working in the communities or the health facilities, according to the project objectives, MSF values, standards and pro-cedures.
Main Responsibilities:
HPCE strategy, activities, and monitoring:
• Actively contribute to the design/adaptation of the HPCE strategy / workplan.
• Lead and follow up on the implementation of the HPCE strategy / workplan, according to the chronogram.
• Support participatory approaches and regular patient/community consultations before and during implementation of the HPCE strategy.
• Organizing health awareness sessions for MSF‘s medical and non-medical staff
• Support in the design of health education materials and participatory methods, applying the right process (pretesting, validation of content, translation).
• Contribute to rapid assessments and surveys.
• Actively support in the systematic collection, encoding and reporting of community feedback and rumours.
• Support the implementation of community-based surveillance (data collection, active case finding, tracing, linkage to care.
• Responsible for the planning and organization of community meetings (in collaboration with HPCE Manager/DMTL/MTL).
• Contribute to the community mapping.
• Monitoring: Ensure the availability of the data collection tools; the data encoding in the data base and the quality check.
• Monitoring: Contribute to the analysis of the monitoring data and look for adjustment (in collaboration with HPCE manager), monthly reporting (MMR, sitrep…).
Team management:
• Contribute to evaluation of the HP team (with the HPCE manager/Deputy PMR / PMR).
• Contribute to the development plan for the HP team.
• Training: Contribute to the needs assessment, design, and implementation of training for the HP team, in collaboration with the HPCE manager / Deputy PMR / PMR.
• Organize regular and systematic supervision of the HP activities and provide on the job-coaching.
• Ensure the planning and practical organisation of the activities for the HP team (HP roaster).
Ensure the organisation of regular HP team meetings.
CONTEXT SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. HEALTH PROMOTION (HP)
– Health Education the population of Nduta camp in terms of information, education and communication according to medical topics and needs.
– Draw upon social, cultural, and linguistic analyses to better understand factors that influence the experience of illness, prevention, treatment, and healing: Analysing the knowledge, attitudes, and practices concerning a disease or health problem within a community in general.
– Empower people to have a more active role in their own healthcare and decison-making, which will contribute towards developing and providing a people-centered medical response.
– Feedback mechanisms: Collect, share, follow and respond to the feedback and other mains informations from the community, patients etc in close collaboration with all the departments after the validation by the line-manager
2. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT (CE)
Community Engagement (CE) = way of working! It should be present in every HP action area and considered as non-optional. The active involvement of patients and communities HP programs will determine its success (Patient and Populations as Partners—PPP approach)
– Situation Analysis : General urderstanding of the context to adapt and reorient health services (by collecting information in a targeted way on: knowledge, perceptions, beliefs, attitudes and practices related specific health related topics and sickness. Perceptions on MSF and its services, health seeking behaviour, social structures, key actors and dynamics of the community.
– Support to Social Networking :Trust-building is an essential step to work towards healthy behaviour change. This can only be achieved through proactive and frequent engagement with the communities we are working with. This has a possitive impact on MSFs security as well. We do that through: community mapping, social mapping and social network analysis
– Creating Supportive Enviroments : Interdisciplinary collaboration between: Health Promotion, Mental Health, medical activities and support to logisitc trough some activities:
· Blood donation (mobilization, meetings/groups discussion, follow-up etc)
· Specific cases (contact tracing, emergency tracing and defaulter tracing/LAMA/DAMA)
· Integrated vector Management (dissemination of information and education about planned activity etc)
