Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility of Maintenance and Development of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. It is also responsible in conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.

The Regional Manager TANROADS Rukwa on behalf of the Chief Executive TANROADS is looking for qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant posts available in the following Project.

Upgrading of Matai – Kasesya (50Km) Road To bitumen Standard;Lot 2: Tatanda-Kasesya Section (25km)in Rukwa Region.

As a measure to strengthen Capacity of discharging TANROADS’ functions effectively, the Regional Manager’s Office TANROADS – Rukwa, on behalf of Chief Executive, seeks to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill vacancy posts on specified contract for the aforementioned roads projects in the following fields.

POSITION TITLE: HIGHWAY ENGINEER – 1 POST

(a)    Entry Qualification:

He/She must be a registered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Highway Engineering.  A  postgraduate  qualification  in  Highway Engineering  is  an  added  advantage. She/he must have a minimum of Seven (7) years of experience related to road design and construction She/he must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) projects for construction of bituminous roads of similar magnitude and complexity in the last (7) years. In addition, he/she must have a working experience of at least 3 years in Sub – Sahara countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

(b)   Duties and Responsibilities:

i. Shall head the site staff and shall be responsible for all technical and administrative aspects on site

ii. To supervise contractor at site and force account operations

iii. To prepare work plans for the project

iv. To manage quality control;

v. To manage project contracts

vi. To prepare progress reports for contracts;

vii.  To process contractor invoices and facilitates payments;

viii.  To attend regular site meetings and prepare minutes;

ix. To monitor implementation  of  Social and  Environmental  Impact mitigation measures during the construction of the works in consultation with the Environmental Specialist of TANROADS.

x. Keeping  updated   all   records   including   reports,   works   diaries,   correspondences, instructions given to contractor(s), test records, measurement and quantity calculations, payment records and all other relevant documents pertaining to the works operations and supervision contracts; and

xi. To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager (PM)

Successful applicants must be ready to work for considerable lengths of time in Rukwa Region where the project is located.

Terms of Service:

  1. The Terms of Employment:  Specified Contract for 1 year or more upon completion of the Project.
