The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a sharp and creative Head of Marketing with significant experience in the tourism industry and a proven track record and exposure to international markets to be based in Arusha in Tanzania. You’ll shape our marketing strategy, lead initiatives to boost brand visibility, run innovative digital campaigns, and strengthen our position in the industry – while ensuring everything aligns with our vision.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
- Integrated Marketing Strategy: Develop and implement a holistic marketing strategy that encompasses digital, offline, and experiential marketing to maximise brand impact
- Campaign Management: Lead the planning, execution, and performance analysis of branding, marketing, and promotional campaigns, ensuring they meet business goals and deliver measurable results.
- Content Marketing & Employer Branding: Lead the development of compelling content across digital and social platforms while partnering with HR to enhance the employer brand, positioning Flying Odyssey as an attractive and inspiring workplace.
- Strategic Partnerships & Event Marketing: Cultivate strategic partnerships with local businesses, travel influencers, and bloggers to create cross-promotions. Innovatively showcase the brand at international travel expos through VR/AR experiences
- Customer Experience & Loyalty programmes: Design and champion customer-centric marketing initiatives that enhance the customer journey, building brand loyalty through targeted loyalty programmes and personalised engagement
- Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget with a focus on optimising resource allocation to maximise ROI across all campaigns and initiatives
- Team Leadership & Development: Inspire, lead, and mentor a high-performing marketing team, fostering creativity, collaboration, and growth within the department
- Performance Reporting & Analysis: Provide actionable insights based on regular reporting on campaign performance, brand health, and the impact on sales and revenue growth
- Crisis Communication: Develop crisis communication strategies to ensure timely and effective responses during challenging situations
- Sustainability and Impact: Promote our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices in all marketing efforts, differentiating the brand in the eco-conscious travel market
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or relevant field
- Minimum 10 years of marketing experience in the tourism industry, with significant exposure to global markets
- Strong leadership skills and experience in team management
- Expertise in digital marketing, including SEO, PPC, social media, and content marketing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in analytics tools and performance metrics
- Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus
Desirable Skills:
- Master’s degree in Marketing or related field
- Experience in eco-tourism or adventure tourism industry
- Familiarity with the East African tourism market
- Creative and innovative thinker
- Proficiency in Swahili is a great plus
