Youlead Partnership and Fundraising Coordinator


JOB OVERVIEW

YouLead is a joint initiative of MS-Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS TCDC) and the East African Community Secretariat. It is a leadership program designed to unlock youth leadership potential for a prosperous Africa by identifying, recognizing, connecting, and fostering cooperation among the continent’s vibrant and influential young leaders and their initiatives.

Since its inception in 2017, YouLead has evolved into a full-fledged program under MS TCDC, requiring a more structured and sustainable approach, which includes a full-time Secretariat based at MS TCDC under the Leadership and Governance Academy (LGA).

To support this Secretariat, YouLead is seeking a Partnership and Fundraising Coordinator to enhance engagement with partners and advance its fundraising efforts.

Location: MS TCDC, Arusha, Tanzania

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Partner Engagement and Documentation

  • Coordinate engagement with existing and prospective YouLead Africa partners across Africa and the diaspora.
  • Ensure consistent communication and collaboration with partners, including consortium members of the YouLead program.
  • Maintain and update a database of partners, including contact information, engagement history, and partnership status.
  • Develop and implement a partner engagement strategy to ensure partners remain informed and engaged through scheduled meetings and strategic communication.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and joint initiatives with partners to enhance YouLead’s impact and reach.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and networking opportunities among partners.

2. Fundraising and Resource Mobilization

  • Identify and map potential funding sources, including grants, donations, and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Lead the development of grant proposals and fundraising campaigns to secure financial support for YouLead activities.
  • Maintain relationships with existing donors by providing regular updates on the impact of their contributions.
  • Develop a tracking and reporting matrix to monitor fundraising progress.
  • Research and implement innovative fundraising approaches, including crowdfunding, corporate partnerships, and donor engagement events.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop compelling fundraising materials, including brochures, reports, and online campaigns.

3. Administrative and Program Support

  • Assist the YouLead Program Manager and LGA with ad-hoc tasks relevant to the role.
  • Support the planning and execution of YouLead events, workshops, and conferences by coordinating partner and donor engagement.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on partnership and fundraising efforts to the Program Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and reporting guidelines.
  • Work closely with the finance and administration teams to ensure proper documentation of funds raised and grants received.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • A Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, partnership management, and donor relations.
  • Proven success in grant writing, proposal development, and resource mobilization.
  • Experience in working with regional and international partners, including government agencies, NGOs, and corporate entities.
  • Strong understanding of funding landscapes, donor trends, and innovative fundraising models.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Partnership Development: Ability to establish and nurture relationships with donors, sponsors, and stakeholders.
  • Fundraising & Resource Mobilization: Expertise in identifying funding opportunities, writing proposals, and managing donor relations.
  • Strategic Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for engagement with partners and donors.
  • Networking & Negotiation: Ability to engage diverse stakeholders and facilitate collaboration.
  • Data Management: Proficiency in maintaining donor databases and tracking funding progress.
  • Financial & Grant Management: Knowledge of budgeting, reporting, and donor compliance requirements.
  • Event Coordination: Experience in organizing fundraising events and partner engagement meetings.
  • Innovative Thinking: Ability to explore creative funding approaches, including digital campaigns and crowdfunding.
