Under the supervision of the Head of Finance, the Grants, Contracts and Compliance Coordinator will manage all grants at Tanzania Country Office. He/she is also required to support the Head of Finance to improve donor relations, identify funding opportunities and compile the donor database, reformat and submit project proposals, and ensures timely financial and technical reporting to donors and WWF Network.

He/she will also liaise with the regional Office in Nairobi to ensure effective coordination of funding submissions and donor communication with other WWF project Offices.

III.   Compliance:

Under the supervision of the Head of Finance, the Coordinator will be responsible for supervising sub grantee auditing and implementation of the audit finding and follow ups. He will also be responsible to make sure that the sub grantees are in compliance with all WWF spending guidance and reporting structure.

  1. Major duties and responsibilities:
  2. Timely reporting and communication on donor contracts and internal monthly reporting of all WWF TCO programmes and projects;
  3. Building an institutional real-time knowledge of donors and various funding opportunities relevant to the needs of the country office;
  4. Developing funding strategies for the various thematic and strategic areas requiring funding within the country office;
  5. Advise and when necessary, support project managers on donor guidelines, policies and procedures and contractual obligations, particularly on reporting, procurement, matching funds, spending rate and visibility requirements to ensure compliance;
  6. Prepare local  grant  guidelines  for  the  activities  with  partners  and  follow request for proposal program announcement requirements;
  7. Provide needed training to local partners, to ensure that their activities are in accordance with regulations and requirements.
  8. Review all subcontracts and agreement;
  9. Assist the  Head  of  Finance  in  building  donor  relations  and  in  attending meetings with donors as appropriate and required, and maintaining timely communication with donors in conjunction with Project Managers and appropriate Country Managers.
  1. Responsible for assisting the Head of Finance on all Sub grantee compulsory auditing.
  1. In collaboration with the Head of Finance, the coordinator will be responsible for implementation of all audit related matter arising from the auditing of the sub grantee
  1. In collaboration with the Head of Finance, the coordinator will be responsible to make sure the sub grantees are in compliance with all WWF spending guidelines and reporting structure.
  1. Any other work that maybe assigned by the Head of Finance
  1. Profile:
  2. Degree or Master’s degree in project management or equivalent;
  3. Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in project management ideally with experience working with government and donors;
  4. Previous work experience with international organizations involved in environmental and/or community issues;
  5. Proven ability in preparation and submission of proposals, and in implementation of conservation programmes;
  6. Excellent written  and  oral  communications  skills,  fluency  in  English  and Kiswahili languages;
  1. Good computer knowledge; strong planning and organizational skills;
  2. Proven interpersonal  skills,  including  the  ability  to  develop  and  maintain strong  relationships  at  all  levels  within  WWF  and  with  donors  and,  as required, with other external stakeholders;
  1. Ability to work within a multicultural environment;
  2. Dynamic, responsive disposition;
  3. Open, adaptable, team spirit; ability to work under pressure;

  1. Working Relationships

Internal:   Interacts and works closely and on a regular basis with the senior management team, programme and finance staff in Tanzania Country Office and field offices. Coordinates and interacts as appropriate with Donors, WWF Eastern and Southern Africa Programme Office in Nairobi, WWF International, and other WWF offices.

External: Interacts as required with governmental institutions, donors, and other stakeholders, in collaboration with the Country Director as appropriate.
