Job Opportunity 1: Bursar

Reports to: Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance and Administration
Department: Finance
Duty Station: Mwanza
Overall Purpose of the Job:
To provide leadership in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial reporting. The Bursar ensures effective management of financial resources, guides on financial matters, and ensures compliance with agreements and legal frameworks.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Operational Planning and Budgeting: Coordinate the preparation of annual operational plans and budgets.
- Budget Implementation and Monitoring: Review and approve budgets, oversee financial policies, and track expenditures.
- Strategic Planning: Work with the Investment Manager on short and long-term investment strategies.
- Financial Policies and Systems: Develop and review financial policies, ensure compliance, and improve financial systems.
- Financial Reporting: Ensure timely financial reporting and oversee annual financial audits.
- Subordinates Effectiveness: Develop succession plans, supervise, and evaluate finance staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Professional accountancy qualification such as CPA (T) or ACCA.
- Minimum of six years of experience in a similar position.
- Strong leadership, financial management, and IT accounting system skills.
