Matteo Italian Restaurant – Arusha

We are currently looking for experienced kitchen staff and a skilled Sous Chef to join our team.

Experienced Kitchen Staff Duties:

Food Preparation:

This includes tasks like chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, portioning ingredients, and cooking dishes according to recipes and instructions.

Maintaining Hygiene and Safety:

Experienced kitchen staff are responsible for keeping their work areas clean, sanitizing equipment, and adhering to food safety regulations to prevent contamination and ensure a safe kitchen environment.

Following Instructions:

They receive guidance from the head chef or sous chef and execute tasks accordingly, ensuring consistency in food preparation and presentation.

Assisting with Inventory:

They may help with inventory management, such as checking the freshness of ingredients and assisting with stocking supplies.

Skilled Sous Chef Duties:

Assisting the Head Chef:

The sous chef works closely with the head chef, supporting them in menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation.

Supervising and Training:

They supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow, providing guidance, and training new employees.

Inventory and Ordering:

The sous chef manages kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages.

Maintaining Quality Standards:

They oversee food preparation to ensure consistency and quality, often conducting regular checks and tastings.

Enforcing Food Safety and Hygiene:

The sous chef is responsible for upholding food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining a clean kitchen environment.

Managing Kitchen Operations:

They may be involved in scheduling staff, managing kitchen resources, and handling administrative tasks.

Problem Solving:

In the absence of the head chef, the sous chef may need to resolve issues that arise during service and make quick decisions.
