Job Purpose
The Relationship Manager, Affluent Parastatals is responsible for managing strategic relationships with senior public officials within parastatals. The role’s primary focus is driving acquisition and retention efforts, and significantly expanding the bank’s asset and liability portfolio through targeted sales and high-level engagement initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
- Portfolio Growth: Drive growth in assets, liabilities, investment products, and insurance through proactive customer visits, targeted sales activities, and retention strategies.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strategic relationships with Senior Officials in Parastatals, acting as the primary liaison to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Cross-Selling: Maximize value from existing clients by cross-selling relevant NMB products and services tailored to their specific needs.
- Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and review portfolio movement reports, identify and address irregularities, and ensure strict adherence to KYC, AML, and other regulatory requirements to minimize risk exposure.
- Service Excellence: Deliver exceptional service by managing customer expectations and resolving queries, complaints, and correspondence promptly in line with service standards.
- Strategy & Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams to align strategies with organizational goals and coach Relationship Officers and Tellers on effectively engaging senior decision-makers.
- Engagement: Maintain a structured call program for all assigned relationships and prospects, and organize or recommend quarterly engagement events to strengthen relationships and enhance NMB’s brand visibility.
- Product Knowledge: Stay updated on product and service developments, recommend enhancements, and maintain comprehensive knowledge of Bank policies, procedures, and products, adapting to technological and customer changes.
Knowledge and Skills
- Technical Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of bank products, operations, regulations, and specific markets for Private Banking clients. Sound financial knowledge and thorough information of NMB’s various offerings.
- Client Expertise: Thorough knowledge of Private Banking clients’ needs and the ability to propose proper solutions.
- Relationship & Communication: Excellent Client Management skills (preferably Senior Decision Makers), excellent communication, networking, interpersonal, and presentation skills. High level of professionalism, integrity, and Diplomatic skills.
- Strategic & Analytical: Strategic thinker with the ability to influence policy and decision-making. Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and decision-making abilities.
- Experience & Network: Proven experience in Sales or Relationship Management, and existing networks and relationships within government and parastatal organizations.
- Other: Experience in project management and strong Credit skills are desirable.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Statistics, Research, or related fields.
- Advanced Degree (Added Advantage): Master’s Degree in Business-related fields.
- Experience: At least 4 years’ experience in handling Public & Senior Decision Makers.
- Credit Experience: Experience in Credit Analysis and Appraisal.
