Job Description
The Database Management Specialist is responsible for the design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and management of the bank’s databases to ensure high levels of data availability. Additionally, this role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining database policies, procedures, and processes to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and related software.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design and implement bank database systems to achieve performance and availability targets.
  • Develop and implement capacity management procedures to keep databases within management thresholds.
  • Manage database availability, service recovery to ensure projects, incidents, and problems are addressed according to defined policies, processes, procedures, and SLA’s.
  • Ensure integration of database strategy and blueprint aligns with the bank’s business direction.
  • Maintain database security (policy, controls, and infrastructure) to protect against data loss, corruption, and unauthorized access.
  • Plan, design, and implement database projects according to bank requirements; monitor capacity and performance to ensure efficiency.
  • Create reports using complex SQL procedures to enable data-driven improvements to business and educational processes.
  • Develop SQL queries and scripts to facilitate integration between the bank’s systems and other internal or external systems.
  • Continuously improve monitoring of the database environment and supporting infrastructure.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in supporting banking applications and technology projects.
  • Professional qualifications in IT such as ITIL, OCA, OCP, OCM, MC Database Admin.
  • Proven skills in SQL and PLSQL.
  • Experience in business process mapping and modeling.
  • Strong customer service and troubleshooting abilities.
