Job Title: Auto Mechanical Technician

Reporting Line Manager: Workshop Manager

Department: Workshop

You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
  • Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
  • Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity
  • Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use
  • Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
  • Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
  • Keep logs on work and issues
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
  • Performing test drivers, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify where problems exists and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Completing preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes,

flushing and replacing fluids, and replacing brakes.

  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls, and updating systems.
  • Maintenance of all rotating and static equipment
  • Removes, dismantles, and reassembles all types of mechanical equipment
  • Diagnose and Rectify faults to enhance maximum availability
  • Identify mechanical critical issue and spare parts required urgently to close trouble ticket
  • Ensuring that all safety systems are restored upon completion of work (where applicable)
  • Perform repair and maintenance work following blueprint sketches and procedures
  • Carry out work instructions as given by supervisor, work specifications and equipment operations

Skill Requirements:

  • To be familiar with all equipment’s and tools in the workshop
  • This position will require the candidate to be flexible with hours, as hours for this role will depend on business needs.
  • Good team working skills
  • Proven experience as auto mechanic
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
  • Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
  • Excellent physical condition
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair vehicles and follow safety instructions and directions
  • Proficiency with hand tools and other equipment
  • Excellent active listening, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, independent and reliable with a strong work ethic

Minimum Qualification:

  • Must be a Citizen of Tanzania
  • Certificate/Diploma in Auto Mechanic from a recognized Institution/University.
  • At least 3-5 Years Working Experience
