Introduction to NMB Foundation:

NMB Foundation is a not-for-profit Corporate Social Investment arm of NMB Bank Pic, which was established in 2021 to scale up its intervention in carefully chosen pillars that impact the lives of majority of Tanzanians. NMB Foundation programs are designed to address issues of relevance specifically within the thematic areas of Education, Health, Agriculture, Environment and Entrepreneurship. NMB Foundation dedicated to driving positive social change and sustainable development within our communities. With a keen focus on these five thematic areas, we have been actively working to create lasting impacts and meaningful transformation in the communities we serve.

Objective:

We are seeking experienced and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. As part of our strategic growth, we aim to onboard two board members who share our passion for making a difference and possess the expertise to guide our organization forward.

Qualifications and Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of NMB Foundation.
  2. Expertise in areas relevant to our focus, such as agriculture development, economic empowerment, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
  3. Experience in board leadership, strategy development, and governance of NGOs.
  4. Strong communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
  5. A track record of ethical leadership and decision-making.

Main Responsibilities:

Governance and Strategic Leadership:

  • Provide visionary leadership and guidance to ensure NMB Foundation fulfills its mission and strategic objectives.
  • Participate actively in the development and review of the Foundation’s strategic plans and policies.

Oversight and Accountability:

  • Setting strategic direction and approving major initiatives to ensure alignment with the foundation’s mission and goals.
  • Holding management accountable for financial management and performance through regular audits and financial reviews, ensuring transparency and trust among stakeholders.

Fundraising and Resource Mobilization:

  • Advice and play an active role in fundraising efforts, contributing networks, connections, and personal philanthropy to support the Foundation’s initiatives.
  • Advice in identifying potential donors, sponsors, and partners for the Foundation’s projects and programs.

Program and Initiative Support:

  • Provide expertise, insights, and advice to guide the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Foundation’s projects and initiatives.
  • Support the Foundation’s focus areas, such as economic empowerment, education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and agriculture development.

Advocacy and Networking:

  • Act as ambassadors for the Foundation, promoting its mission, values, and impact among stakeholders.
  • Leverage personal and professional networks to create strategic partnerships and collaborations.

Program and Initiative Support:

  • Provide expertise, insights, and advice to guide the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Foundation’s projects and initiatives.
  • Support the Foundation’s focus areas, such as economic empowerment, education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and agriculture development.

Board Meetings and Participation:

  • Attend and actively contribute to board meetings, ensuring regular attendance and meaningful engagement.
  • Prepare for meetings by reviewing materials, reports, and relevant documentation.

Time Commitment:

Dedicate time and effort to fulfill board responsibilities, including attending meetings, participating in committee work, and engaging in Foundation activities.

Confidentiality:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information related to the Foundation’s operations, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.

Termination of Service:

  • Board members may resign from their position by providing written notice to the Board Chairperson.
  • In exceptional circumstances, the Board may terminate a member’s service due to non-compliance with board responsibilities, conflicts of interest, or other significant issues

Selection Process:

Term of Appointment:

Board members will serve an initial term of THREE years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and organizational needs.

Remuneration:

The position of Board member is voluntary and non-remunerated. However, reasonable expenses incurred may be reimbursed.
