Join the team at Zuri Zanzibar Resort, a sustainable, award-winning luxury resort located on Africa’s most stunning beach, Kendwa.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Chief Engineer to lead the engineering department at Zuri Zanzibar Resort. This pivotal role ensures the effective maintenance, safety, and performance of all resort facilities and systems. You will play a key role in upholding our sustainability goals and operational excellence standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the engineering team to ensure smooth operation of all facilities and technical systems.
- Oversee and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs across the resort.
- Plan and manage CAPEX projects, renovations, and technical upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain all utility systems including electrical, HVAC, water supply, and waste management.
- Collaborate with other departments to support seamless guest services and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to and champion sustainable facility management practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and maintenance records.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven experience managing engineering and maintenance operations, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of technical systems including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and water systems.
- Demonstrated experience planning and executing capital improvement projects (CAPEX).
- Familiarity with hotel technologies and facility management software.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards.
- A strong commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly operational practices.
