Job Title Construction Supervisor Civil
Industry Oil and Gas / Construction

Qualification / Experience

  • Minimum 10 years experience in civil construction experience in the related industry.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in construction and working within a cross- functional oil & gas pipeline project team.
  • Experience working with and analysing construction data to report accurate KPI’s and progress status.
  • Tertiary/Professional qualification in construction management or other

Company agreed applicable discipline qualifications (degree preferred) that support the construction management and execution of the onshore Pipeline and related AGI, MST facilities and EITS infrastructure works scopes

  • Demonstrated experience in similar lead roles in a civils capacity

Competencies                          

•   Competency and proven experience equivalent proprietary management systems and associated desktop applications for project delivery.

  • Competency within industry applications such as Assure, OMIE, Aconex, SharePoint, Adobe, MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Advanced knowledge of civil construction activities for site preparation, cut and fill, compaction, roadworks, drainage, concrete structures, piling, foundations, buildings, and associated disciplines, such as survey, mechanical, structural erection.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the interpretation of engineering drawings, plans and specifications.
  • understanding of system/sub-systems completions and turnover to interface disciplines
  • Understanding and knowledge of the requirements for LOTO and energy isolation procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction compliance, risk controls and site HSE hierarchy
  • Knowledge of project construction strategy and commitments including, safety, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and field progress inspections.
  • Understanding of critical path and key milestones within the construction planning programs for civil works
  • A high focus on identifying and meeting the key project deliverables and objectives.
  • Demonstrated communication skills including the ability to articulate construction concerns and solutions with teams consisting of individuals with various technical and educational backgrounds.
  • Previous experience working with multicultural contractors’ and reporting their performance.
  • Staff management experience (knowledge of mentoring and motivation techniques)
  • Autonomous, self-motivated, and flexible with the ability to adapt quickly to change or shifting priorities.

Job Summary:

The Construction Supervisor (Civils) is responsible for Supervision of the day-to-day construction activities of the staff & contractors. Ensure work is carried out using safe working practices and is completed in accordance with the project codes, standards, drawings, and specifications.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supporting the staff & the contractors ensuring delivery of the pipeline and associated facilities and infrastructure are on-time and to budget.
  • To provide on the job training and coaching to local content personnel, liaising either directly or indirectly with training providers to ensure training is provided and performance monitoring of such.
  • Work as directed by the Superintendent within the allocated construction work packages issued
  • Implement, use, and communicate safe work practices on and off the project sites
  • Inspecting construction sites regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards.
  • Ensuring local contractors understand works cope instructions enabling them to execute their obligations and deliverables as per the contract.
  • Attend regular meetings for project scheduling, contractor performance, materials, and vendors.
  • Ensure that subcontractors are fully executing and complying with their contracted scope of work
  • Identify conflicts in field construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution
  • Reviewing bulk material ROS dates & ensuring site deliveries are supporting construction schedule
  • Perform inspections of equipment/materials/installations to ensure conformance and build integrity
  • Conduct regular field inspections of the works in progress to ensure conformance to AFC design drawings
  • Providing instruction and supervision to junior field engineers on day-to-day work scope execution
  • Supervision and checks of field survey pegging for excavations, cut, fill and foundation locations
  • Supervision of ITP inspection surveillance and hold points by the designated inspection personnel.
  • Supervise pre-pour inspection and approve release to pour
  • Review and confirm survey benchmark controls for sites, road networks and pipeline ROW corridors
  • Civil interface for structural, mechanical, electrical and plant foundations
  • Work within a multi-cultural business framework and provide ethical and compliant support.
  • Coordinate with field engineering, Pipeline, AGI, EITS and MST Superintendents to ensure the delineation of battery limit scopes are clearly communicated and understood by all stakeholders.
  • Mentor exemplary behaviour regarding HSE, Ethics and Company “Code of Conduct” policy.
  • Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor.
  • Handle onsite incidents and emergencies in a proactive manner.
  • Reports incidents, hazards and other issues related to quality and health na dsafety and the environment.
