COUNTRY MANAGER – TANZANIA

As the Country Manager for Tanzania, you’ll be the driving force behind our operations, providing visionary leadership to the country management team. Take full accountability for all country operations, ensuring the successful delivery of financial business plans and key performance indicators (KPIs). Your role is pivotal in fostering sustainable growth, solidifying our market presence, and nurturing relationships with external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:

1. Commercial Management

  • Identify profitable commercial opportunities for revenue and market share growth.
  • Analyze potential opportunities, develop business plans, and optimize business development.
  • Monitor business, sales, and activity plans in line with the approved budget.
  • Analyze competitor activities for a strategic advantage.
  • Accountable for market analysis, brand support, and positioning.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks across all areas of the business.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and services.

2. Client Relationship and Stakeholder Management

  • Represent the Company in dealings with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the team in achieving customer retention through efficient customer service.
  • Establish partnerships with key stakeholders for effective business relationships.
  • Participate in contract negotiations with clients and plan for execution.

3. Operational Planning and Management

  • Oversee country operations for efficiency, quality service, and cost-effective management of
  • resources.
  • Exercise executive stewardship of the Company’s resources.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s branding guidelines.
  • Safeguard and maintain company assets at retail and consumer outlets.

4. Financial Management

  • Assume full accountability for the country’s profit and loss statement and balance sheet.
  • Work closely with the Regional Supply team for accurate demand forecasts.
  • Oversee the Company’s financial performance, investments, and business ventures.
  • Continuously improve the cost-effectiveness of capital and revenue expenditures.

5. People Management & Leadership

  • Provide leadership for efficient staff management and target achievement.
  • Mentor and interact with sales staff to foster growth and development.
  • Motivate and coach the team to operational success.
  • Promote high standards and ensure team understanding of expected behavior.

6. Compliance and Safety

  • Establish and enforce policies related to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).
  • Ensure legal compliance for safe and lawful operations.

7. Strategic Alignment

  • Lead the development and implementation of the company’s commercial strategy.
  • Formulate responsive business strategies to sustain growth and profitability.
  • Provide advice on technical and commercial matters across the petroleum value chain.
  • Develop quarterly and monthly strategies for achieving gross margin and sales targets.

8. Governance and Operational Risk Management

Adherence to Company Guidelines and Policies, including SOPs, BRD, Risk Management, HR Policies, and Code of Conduct.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related fields (Master’s degree desirable).
  • Professional qualifications in Sales and Marketing.
  • Minimum 7 years of senior management experience, preferably in the Energy sector.
  • Experience in the Tanzania or East African petroleum industry is advantageous.
  • Experience in managing budgets effectively, financial management, and setting up effective metrics.
  • Leadership experience with a thorough knowledge of marketing principles, sales, and business
  • development.
  • Analytical skills and ability to interpret sales performance and market trend information.
  • Proven ability and experience managing and leading high-performance management teams.
  • Demonstrable experience in strategy planning and execution.
  • Ability to understand changing market dynamics and implement strategies for preset objectives.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the strategic marketing and selling process.
  • Credible and confident communicator (written and verbal) with a high level of integrity.
