Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Nation Media Group (NMG), is Tanzania’s largest independent news network with an award-winning presence in print and digital media, and exciting new ventures in innovation and events ecosystems. We are publishers of leading national news brands Mwananchi, The Citizen and Mwanaspoti in print and digital formats, and proprietors of the Mwananchi Digital suite of products and Nation ePaper and EGazeti web platforms. We are audience-led, market-driven with a clear mission to empower the nation. We are looking for a motivated and highly experienced individual to fill the position of:

ENGAGMENT LEAD-MWANASPOTI (1 POST)

PURPOSE: You will be responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and optimization of digital content strategies to drive engagement and achieve business objectives. This role involve leveraging various digital channels to create compelling content that resonates with our target audience and fosters meaningful interactions.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless delivery of content across different platforms.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive engagement strategies to increase reader loyalty, retention, and participation across digital and print platforms.
  • Cultivate a vibrant online community by actively engaging with our audience through social media platforms, comment sections, and reader forums. Foster dialogue, address reader feedback, and facilitate discussions around our content.
  • Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to promote our content effectively across various channels, including social media, email newsletters, and events. Identify opportunities to showcase our journalism and engage new audiences.
  • Monitor and analyze audience engagement metrics to track performance, identify trends, and inform decision-making. Use data-driven insights to optimize engagement strategies and improve the overall reader experience.
  • Serve as a liaison between our audience and internal teams, conveying reader feedback, suggestions, and concerns to relevant stakeholders. Act as an advocate for our readers and champion their interests within the organization.
  • Explore opportunities for partnerships and collaborations with external organizations, influencers, and community groups to expand our reach and amplify our message.
  • Provide training and support to editorial and content teams on best practices for engaging with readers and building a loyal audience base. Foster a culture of audience-centric journalism throughout the organization.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of working experience.
