Facility Maintenance Engineer Job Vacancy at the U.S Embassy in Botswana
Duties
Basic Function of the Position
This position is the senior Locally Employed Staff (LE Staff) position in Facilities Management (FM) for Center for Disease Control (CDC) Botswana. Position coordinates, manages and oversees implementation of all routine facility and grounds maintenance for CDC Botswana including any approved renovation projects. The FM Engineer serves as the technical advisor for all primary facility trades including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, roofing, welding, HVAC, security, landscaping, pest control and janitorial domains. In this capacity, incumbent ensures that facility features and systems in all these domains are well maintained and remain fully operational. Position reports to the Associate Director for Management and Operations.
Qualifications and Evaluations
- Requirements:
- EXPERIENCE:
Three years related work experience in either civil engineering, building maintenance or facility management. Experience with tendering and supervising contractor performance of building works. One year of supervisory experience is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Excellent working knowledge of field engineering including civil, electrical, mechanical, building, plumbing and construction/renovation practices in accordance with Botswana codes and standards.

Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing of English is required.
Level IV (Fluent) speaking of Setswana is required
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to manage and/or oversee skilled workers in multiple trades, develop and manage projects, devise work schedules, provide technical supervision to assure an effective maintenance program, and write technical reports. Must be computer literate with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Incumbent must be capable of maintaining digital and paper records to document all relevant contractor activities in a thorough and organized manner. Ability to assist with general physical labor associated with primary duties when necessary. Valid driver’s license with a clean record. “This may be tested”.
