We are currently supporting one of our FMCG manufacturing client, in hiring a Head of Human Resources for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania location.
Job Overview:
The Head of Human Resources (HR) is a strategic partner to the executive team, responsible for developing and executing human resource strategies that support the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. This includes talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation. The Head of HR will also oversee the implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and maintaining strong relationships with government departments related to labour.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Leadership:
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s overall business strategy.
- Act as a strategic partner to the executive team, providing guidance and support on HR-related matters.
- Lead organizational development initiatives to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to promote a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Talent Management:
- Oversee the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to attract and retain top talent.
- Develop and implement talent management and succession planning programs.
- Manage performance appraisal systems to ensure employee performance aligns with company goals.
Employee Relations:
- Ensure effective communication and positive employee relations throughout the organization.
- Address employee grievances and provide guidance on conflict resolution.
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
HR Compliance and Government Relations:
- Ensure compliance with all labour laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that support the company’s goals and ensure legal compliance.
- Maintain strong relationships with government departments related to labour and represent the company in labour-related matters.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure HR practices are consistent and compliant.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 10-15 years of experience in a managerial HR role within the MNC Manufacturing/FMCG industry.
- Strong knowledge of local labour laws and regulations.
- Proven experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with government departments related to labour.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is highly desirable.
