Job Description – Nurse (FIDES TANZANIA LTD FLOWER FARM)

Job Title: Nurse

Department: Health & Safety / Human Resources

Reports To: HR Manager / Health & Safety Officer

Location: Arusha

Job Purpose

To provide professional nursing care, promote employee health and wellness, and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards at the workplace. The Nurse will manage the clinic medical facility, respond to medical emergencies, and support preventive health programs for employees.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Health Care & First Aid

– Provide first aid and medical attention to employees in case of accidents or illnesses.
– Assess, treat, and stabilize patients before referral to external medical facilities where necessary.
– Maintain a clean, well-equipped, and functional farm clinic.

2. Health Monitoring & Records

– Conduct regular health screenings for employees (e.g., blood pressure, blood sugar, weight checks).
– Monitor and follow up on chronic conditions among staff.
– Keep accurate and confidential medical records of employees.

3. Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)

– Participate in workplace risk assessments and recommend preventive measures.
– Support compliance with national occupational health regulations and company policies.
– Conduct health and safety training (first aid, hygiene, use of protective gear).

4. Administration & Reporting

– Maintain adequate stock of medicines and medical supplies.
– Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly health reports to management.
– Document accidents, injuries, and illnesses for follow-up and reporting.

5. Preventive Care & Employee Wellness

– Promote awareness on hygiene, nutrition, and general health practices.
– Support wellness campaigns, health talks, and vaccination programs.
– Provide counseling and guidance on health-related issues.

Qualifications and Experience

– Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
– Valid license/registration with the Nurses and Midwives Council (or relevant authority).
– Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in occupational health, industrial clinic, farm, or construction site.
– Certification in Occupational Health & Safety is an added advantage.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
– Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
