Job Description
Job Purpose:
The NOC Technician is a technical and customer-oriented role that assists in the management and monitoring of the network performance and stability for core network and customer’s connections on a day-to-day basis in real time. From time to time, you shall be required to assist with an escalation, with client infrastructure deployment requiring basic network engineering knowledge. These installations will have clearly defined scope and laid down standards processes & procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- The day-to-day NOC operations to assist in ensuring that customers networks are properly setup and that Habari’s services work seamlessly with existing customer IT infrastructure
- Responsible for incident management, alerts/events management, configuration management, network performance, network status and data including real time capacity and availability for the NOC Managed Monitoring as a Service NMS for customers who opt- in.
- Taking ownership of escalated customer issues reported and seeing problems through to complete resolution.
- Ensure you follow the standard operating procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate internal teams.
- Walk customers through problem-solving process and follow up with clients to ensure their systems and services are fully functional after troubleshooting.
- Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals to form a knowledge base to aid and up skill team members to handle the bulk of escalated issues at their level.
- Assist the sales team in answering requests for quotations / information, bids, proposals, solution descriptions and statements of work.
- Liaise with the rest of the Network Engineering team to ensure that the proposed designs for both core infrastructure and customer solutions complements the core IP network.
- Act as the customer support 2nd and 3rd Level escalation point
Skills and Competencies:
- RF theory and modelling capability on licensed and unlicensed bands.
- Strong Desire to automate network activities – Experience with programming/scripting languages and frameworks like Python, Ansible etc. will be an added advantage.
- Network Troubleshooting. Ability to diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, bandwidth issues, and hardware failures.
- Equipment Configuration. Ability to configure, and maintain networking equipment such as routers, switches, and access points.
- Quality Assurance. Commitment to delivering high-quality service by conducting thorough testing and validation of network installations, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs), and following best practices for network reliability and performance.
- Continuous Learning and Professional Development. Willingness to stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in networking through self- study, training programs, and certifications.
- Expertise in managing and deploying monitoring tools. Ability to configure, customize, and optimize monitoring systems to meet organizational needs, and skill in analyzing monitoring data to detect and resolve potential issues proactively
Qualifications:
- University degree or college diploma required, preferably in the field of Telecommunication or other related academic fields
- 1 year of relevant work/management experience, managing existing fiber and wireless ISP network, upstream providers and bandwidth usage and cost to achieve budget thresholds, managing complex projects for both small- and large-scale telecommunications and/or ISPs in challenging environments such as remote/rural areas
- Ability to carry out radio frequency planning
Key Performance Indicators
- 65% threshold of airtime on all allocated sectors/horns.
- Back-haul link signals monitoring. Maintain full modulation on all back-haul links.
- Active customer’s optimal links at 95%.
- Bandwidth utilization on all base stations – 70%
- 35 active clients per sector/horn
- LOS/signal strength for fiber clients
