Main Responsibilities

1. Security Strategy and Planning

• Design and implement physical security strategies aligned with NMB Bank’s Physical Security Policy and BOT guidelines.
• Develop and update security policies, procedures, and contingency plans for scenarios such as robberies, fire incidents, natural disasters, and civil unrest.
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and threat analyses to identify and mitigate risks.
• Provide the Bank with relevant security intelligence on matters affecting business operations, including evolving crime patterns locally and globally.

2. Managing Security Operations

• Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of security systems (CCTV, intrusion detection, access control, alarms).
• Supervise physical security personnel including Armed Police Officers, private security guards, and service providers, ensuring compliance with procedures and service-level agreements.
• Coordinate security operations across the Bank’s network to maintain consistent standards.
• Monitor daily security operations, assess risks, recommend or implement preventive measures.
• Develop or review guidelines for the installation of physical security systems and ensure proper implementation.
• Ensure security risk assessments are conducted for existing branches, offices, and new potential sites; advise on risk mitigation measures.
• Ensure 24/7 security operations support for branches and head office facilities.

3. Central Security Command Center Oversight

• Manage daily operations of the central security command center.
• Ensure effective surveillance and monitoring of critical areas, branches, and offsite ATMs.
• Oversee retrieval, preservation, and secure handling of CCTV footage to support investigations and compliance requirements.

4. Executive Residence Security Coordination

• Coordinate and oversee security arrangements at the residences of designated Bank executives.
• Ensure appropriate protocols are in place for both static and mobile protection.

5. Emergency Response and Crisis Management

• Lead response efforts during security emergencies or incidents.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services and advise management accordingly.
• Develop and implement crisis management plans for incidents such as armed robberies and civil unrest.
• Ensure comprehensive post-incident investigations are conducted, with detailed reports and recommendations.

6. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

• Ensure security operations comply with internal policies, the Banking and Financial Institutions (Physical Security Measures) Regulations 2014, and applicable international standards.
• Liaise with regulators and auditors to ensure compliance and address any findings.
• Stay updated on emerging threats and regulatory changes and adjust policies accordingly.

7. Training and Awareness

• Design and conduct security awareness training for employees, including emergency procedures, cash handling, and overall security operations.
• Conduct emergency preparedness drills and simulations to test the effectiveness of security measures and staff preparedness.
• Promote a culture of security-awareness and encourage proactive reporting of suspicious activities.

8. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with Branch Controls, Operational Risk, Audit, and Compliance teams to align physical security operations with broader risk frameworks.
• Serve as the primary security contact, providing updates to Senior Management and the Board.

9. Budget and Resource Management

• Develop and manage the physical security budget, optimizing personnel and equipment resources.
• Evaluate and procure security technologies and services, negotiating cost-effective contracts.
• Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety.

10. Supporting and Conducting Investigations

• Ensure investigations are conducted for incidents such as theft, security procedure breaches, robbery, property damage, and accidents.
• Support forensic and fraud investigations; handle internal and external requests for CCTV footage and other security logs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years’ progressive experience in physical security management, preferably in the banking or financial sector.
• Proven experience managing large-scale, multi-site security operations, including remote locations.
• Strong background in regulatory compliance and risk assessment frameworks.
• Experience working with law enforcement agencies (Police, Military) is an added advantage.
