Job Description

We seek a dynamic and motivated individual to join Future Stars Academy, a sports for development NGO based in Arusha, Tanzania, as the Programs and Operations Manager. The Programs and Operations Manager will play a critical role in the organization’s management and its growth and development. This position involves overseeing all program initiatives, developing processes that enable more efficient and effective operations, managing all day-to-day activities, and overseeing the organization’s staff.

The Programs and Operations Manager will be an integral part of Future Stars Academy’s mission to positively impact the lives of disadvantaged youth through sports and education. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth and development of the organization, working collaboratively with a dedicated team to create lasting change in the local community.

About the Organization

Future Stars Academy (FSA) exists to transform the lives of youth in Tanzania by using football (sports) as a tool to keep them in school and to become models and contributing citizens through our philosophy of “No School No Play”. We provide youth from vulnerable backgrounds from ages 4-20 access to football (sports) and education. The impact FSA has on youth has far-reaching implications for the community and the nation that go beyond the football fields — it helps to develop the economy, break the cycle of generational poverty, and gender equality, and create leaders and models who are contributing citizens of society through sports for development.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Support

  • Assist the leadership team with the development and implementation of the organization’s Strategic Plan, ensuring the achievement of its goals.
  • Collaborate with senior management to set organizational priorities and drive performance.

Program Management

  • Responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of Future Stars Academy’s programming including The Football Academy, Community, Gender, and Empowerment programs.
  • Lead monitoring and evaluation efforts on programs to understand their effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions to enhance efficiency and impact.
  • Collaborate with senior management to set organizational priorities and drive performance.

Operations Management

  • Oversee all operations processes including budget management, human resources, record-keeping, document management, and internal communications.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining up-to-date records and licenses.
  • Oversee the project management of events, tournaments, and other activities, including logistics, budgets, and timelines, and monitor and mitigate any risks.
  • Overseeing the organization’s budget and the bookkeeper

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Sports Management, Communications, or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in management, operations, or nonprofit administration.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, ability to multitask and prioritize effectively, and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, fostering positive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Swahili
  • Digitally skilled (Project Management Software, Microsoft Word/Google Docs, Excel/Sheets, Powerpoint/Slides, Calendar, email, etc.) and comfortable using technology to complete work.
  • Experience in fundraising and grant proposal writing is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and passion for sports, particularly football, and its potential for development and social impact.
