Job Purpose
The Relationship Manager – Dairy will be responsible for growing both Liabilities (Deposits) and Assets (Loans) from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Commercial clients within the dairy sector.
The role involves advising the Agri Retail Department on strategies to strengthen and expand the dairy portfolio, supporting Relationship Officers and Branch Managers in customer acquisition, and ensuring business growth and portfolio quality within the assigned area.
The Relationship Manager will also analyze the performance of Agri Retail loans, identify business opportunities, and collaborate with the product development team to design new financial solutions tailored to agribusiness clients, particularly in the dairy value chain.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and implement actionable plans to achieve asset and liability growth targets in the assigned zone.
- Review and provide recommendations on the bank’s pricing policy for Agri Retail products based on field insights.
- Initiate and manage customer engagement activities such as Business Clubs, Agri Executive Networks, and dairy-related events.
- Monitor and supervise Agri Retail loans to ensure portfolio quality and compliance with lending standards.
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly) on Agri Retail performance.
- Plan, prepare, and evaluate marketing strategies for existing and new Agri Retail loan products.
- Ensure efficient delivery of Agri Retail loan products and propose improvements where necessary.
- Review credit appraisals from Relationship Officers prior to submission to the Credit Department.
- Assist branches and zones in developing budgets for Agri Retail assets and liabilities.
- Train and mentor Relationship Officers on best practices in agribusiness lending and client relationship management.
Knowledge and Skills
- In-depth understanding of dairy production, value chains, and supply chain logistics (from farm to processing and distribution).
- Strong knowledge of Agribusiness Retail Banking products and services across agricultural value chains.
- Excellent understanding of agriculture sector dynamics and related regulatory frameworks.
- Sound knowledge of banking operations, loan products, and financial markets in Tanzania.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
- Excellent communication (English and Kiswahili), analytical, and presentation skills.
- Strong customer relationship management and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership, innovation, and change management capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal, networking, and people management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience in team building and developing high-performing teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Veterinary Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ banking experience, including credit assessment, client management, project appraisal, and general bank operations.
- Proven experience in agricultural lending or agribusiness sales, preferably in the dairy sector.
