Matembezi Safaris is a local tour operator based in Ngaramtoni ya Juu, Arusha. We offer carefully crafted and professionally guided wildlife safaris in Tanzania’s wilderness, and are looking for a Sales Manager to join our experienced team.
Job description and task list
- The Sales manager position is a senior managerial position that requires a positive, participatory and responsibility driven out look on the company and your role in it.
- Oversee the agent / client sales process from preliminary request until successful completion of the safari.
- Supervise contracting with all suppliers.
- Oversee and appraise sales team performance.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports.
- Oversee the hand over process between sales to reservation and operations departments.
- Devise and implement training strategies and educational trips where appropriate for sales team.
- Assist employees to prioritise and manage their time.
- Capacity building and enhancing skills.
- Produce new content for the quotation process.
- Helping people to work independently to the best of their ability
- Gaining thorough understanding of quotation tools and operational processes in order to manage and supervise effectively the sales equivalents within the office.
- Make safari quotations.
- Meet some of our guests, prior to or after their safari in Arusha.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports.
Qualifications & experience
- Prior experience working in the Tanzanian tourist industry.
- Understanding of local and international tourism.
- Understanding of modern IT systems.
- Fluent in English; additional language of preference.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Ability to think quickly and make decisions under pressure.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Tertiary education diploma or certificate.
