Senior Relationship Manager – Government Business

Job Purpose
To contribute to Government Business growth and profitability with a strong focus on business value chain development activities for new and existing Central Government clients.
Main Responsibilities
- Drive the unit’s business growth and profitability through effective development of new government business opportunities.
- Identify business value chain opportunities within the assigned portfolio and collaborate with internal departments to implement and close government project deals and financial solutions initiated or requested by the Government.
- Proactively source government business deals and align internal stakeholders to develop and execute delivery plans.
- Support the preparation of competitive responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including pricing proposals, and obtain required approvals prior to submission.
- Develop and maintain long-term Government Business client retention plans.
- Provide specialist advisory services to Government Accounting Officers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Advise on financial solutions that can be partnered with the Government.
- Lead marketing intelligence efforts and advise the Senior Manager on ongoing and upcoming government development projects.
- Manage a portfolio of existing government banking relationships by providing consultative product and service solutions to meet client needs, enhance relationships, and conduct annual reviews.
- Support the preparation of formal presentations for existing and potential government customers.
- Support Zonal Relationship Managers – Government Business on matters requiring Central Government and Head Office intervention.
Knowledge and Skills
- Sound knowledge of Banking Business, Relationship Management, Banking Operations, and Government Operations.
- In-depth understanding of Central Government structures, government transactions and projects, and banking industry or sector trends.
- Strong sales negotiation, financial analysis, and government stakeholder relationship management skills.
- Ability to build partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Strong communication and formal presentation skills.
- People management skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business-related fields.
- Postgraduate qualification in Banking and/or professional banking certifications will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in Corporate Relationship Management within banking or financial institutions, specifically handling Government or Institutional clients.
- Proven track record in cash management and investment sales to Government clients (Ministries, Agencies, and Corporates).
- Experience managing sensitive client portfolios.
