Job Description
  • Responsible for the day to day running of the entire Investor Services Operation.
  • To spearhead achievement of all the Division’s goals by ensuring a cost-effective, high-quality service is provided to our customers, by effectively managing and controlling all the core Functions in Investor Services including Settlements, Billing, Stakeholder Management, Corporate Actions, Reconciliation Section reporting to this post.
  • Ensure the provision of a high quality and cost-effective service to both internal and external clients by accurately analyzing the clients’ needs and market demands in order to define business requirements.
  • Provide guidance – be responsible for the development and career development of self and sub-ordinates, by ensuring that Supervisors drive the formulation of workshops in conjunction with the training centre, thereby ensuring that staff is adequately trained, skilled and motivated.
  • Keep staff informed of any market /procedural/system changes and future direction of Investor Services.
  • Ensure costs to the Bank are kept in line with the budget by constantly monitoring and controlling all expenses.
  • Identify areas of risk and ensure that proper controls are in place to eliminate / minimize risks and losses. Must drive the Supervisors to take responsibility for the Risk Management Framework and ensure that this is updated regularly by implementing appropriate controls.
  • Perform appropriate staffing through ensuring best quality recruitment of Investor Services staff.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate staff performance, hold continuous performance discussions and devise ways of motivating staff and retaining good performers.
  • Encourage and display teamwork. Live by the Banks Values.
  • Drive digitization through encouraging continuous innovations within the Unit.
Qualifications

Education.

  • Degree holder from a recognized University
  • Business related Degree.
  • A Master’s Degree or CFA is an added advantage.
  • Custody Certification

Knowledge / Experience

  • Knowledge in the Financial Markets.
  • Minimum of four years of Custody Specific experience.
  • Knowledge of Banking products and services (including Operational products, Treasury, Custodial, Investment banking etc)
  • Basic knowledge of Accounting / Finance
  • Computer Literacy
  • MS Office

  • The job requires the incumbent to be orientated towards strategic thinking and immediate accomplishments.
  • Part of the challenge lies in the ability to harness appropriate advice, guidance or assistance in a timely manner from all business units and Head office Johannesburg.
  • Requires an innovative individual who can think laterally, who has understanding of the business vision and who can take an idea and move with it to conclusion.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in effectiveness and efficiency in the workplace, customer relations, and risk/ loss management.

  • Probe information from various sources to aid decision-making and solution development.

  • Ensure quality decisions in staffing for the Unit including making market comparisons.
