Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in the Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in Denver, USA, with operations in more than ten countries across four continents.

The mine is located in the Lake Victoria Gold Fields of Northwestern Tanzania, approximately 120 km from Mwanza City and 20 km southeast of Lake Victoria. GGML’s main offices and operations are in Geita, 5 km west of the fast-growing town of Geita, with a supporting office in Dar es Salaam.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To effectively manage electrical maintenance activities at underground operations, including underground electrical works, water facilities, outside water sources, camp facilities and infrastructure, overhead power lines, power generation, medium voltage tasks, and ventilation systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Form Four Certificate with VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One / Level Three in Industrial Electrical.
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage.
  • Must possess a valid Tanzanian driving license.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a High Voltage Electrician, performing troubleshooting and repairs on underground HV systems, cable runs, fan installations, drill rig Jumbos, and underground pumps.
  • Experience with Jumbo Sandvik equipment will be an added advantage.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • High-voltage electrical expertise.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic tools for electrical fault finding.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.
  • Skilled in electrical wiring, installation, and repair.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Diagnose electrical faults on equipment and machinery.
  • Repair electrical systems in Jumbos, Solos, Cubex starters, flight pumps, stalker pumps, and related equipment.
  • Perform verification tests after repair work to ensure functionality.
  • Assemble and install electrical and electronic systems in equipment.
  • Prepare time and cost estimates for maintenance activities.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring quick restoration of operations.
  • Perform planned maintenance and contribute to maintenance scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and legislative safety requirements.
  • Carry out high-voltage tasks as required for specific projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
