Transportation Project Lead and In-Market InSight Engineer at TEF Consult September 2025

Reports To: Head of M-Pesa Business

Purpose of the Role:
Drive and oversee the successful delivery of strategic payment collection projects in the transportation sector, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all scope and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define project scope, objectives, approach, and governance.

• Develop detailed project plans and oversee execution.

• Manage stakeholder engagement and communication.

• Monitor budgets, risks, and project performance.

• Oversee daily site inspections and quarterly project reviews.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s in Business, Project Management, Finance, IT, or related field (Master’s preferred).

• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing large-scale public service or revenue collection projects.

• Strong background in the transportation sector (air, water, rail, buses, etc.).

• Proven expertise in stakeholder management, contract handling, and automated fare systems.

In-Market InSight Engineer

Reports To: Business Support & Optimization Manager

Purpose of the Role:
Support the IPG (Interconnect Payment Gateway) configuration and optimization within M-Pesa’s systems. This role ensures proper setup, smooth integration, and ongoing support for in-market operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure and maintain IPG setups across markets.

• Conduct system tests, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.

• Work closely with technical teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

• Prepare documentation, user guides, and provide training support.

• Monitor system performance and report insights for improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field.

• 3+ years’ experience in system configuration, integration, or telecom operations.

• Strong skills in SQL, APIs, and mobile money platforms.

• Experience in payment systems, reconciliation, or BI tools is an added advantage.
