The Programme Associate (G-6) is based in the Education Programme Section and reports to the Chief of Education. The role supports effective programme delivery through close coordination with Programme, Operations, Finance, and Supply units, as well as with government counterparts, NGOs, and donors.
Under the supervision of the Section Chief, the Programme Associate provides specialized programme and administrative support to facilitate the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of UNICEF education programmes. The role requires sound judgment, proactive problem-solving, and strong coordination skills to ensure compliance with organizational rules and effective delivery of results.
Key Functions and Responsibilities
1. Project Management and Implementing Partnership Coordination
- Support planning, execution, and monitoring of assigned education projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate implementing partnership management processes, including due diligence, PSEA assessments, micro-assessments, and spot checks.
- Liaise with Programme Managers, partners, and stakeholders to ensure timely submission and processing of Funding Authorizations and FACE forms aligned with approved workplans.
- Monitor timely liquidation of Direct Cash Transfers (DCTs).
2. Data Management, Analysis, and Reporting
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative programme data to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Prepare regular reports, dashboards, presentations, and donor reports on key performance indicators.
- Support the use of digital and AI-enabled tools for data analysis, visualization, and generation of actionable insights.
3. Grant Management, Budget Monitoring, and Reporting
- Track budget allocations, expenditures, and grant utilization using relevant systems (e.g. SAP).
- Monitor grant expiry dates and support grant extensions, reprogramming, and closure processes.
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc grant management and funds utilization reports for management and donor reporting.
- Contribute to the development of funding proposals and statutory reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
4. Digital Innovation and Operational Efficiency
- Apply AI, automation, and digital tools to streamline routine processes such as data analysis and report generation.
- Serve as a focal resource for digital platforms, including SAP, Service Gateway, Power BI, and SharePoint.
- Ensure data protection and compliance with UNICEF data privacy and digital workforce policies.
5. Communication, Knowledge Sharing, and Stakeholder Engagement
- Draft clear and structured internal and external communications, including reports, briefs, and knowledge products.
- Maintain organized digital and physical document repositories, including SharePoint sites.
- Contribute to documentation of lessons learned, best practices, and institutional knowledge.
- Support onboarding and knowledge transfer for new team members.
6. Capacity Building and Event Coordination
- Support the organization of capacity-building activities, workshops, meetings, and field missions.
- Prepare background materials, coordinate logistics, liaise with vendors, and support participant engagement.
7. Flexibility and Surge Support
- Provide adaptive support during emergencies, surge deployments, and programme reprioritization.
- Liaise with focal points and provide backup support to other programme sections to ensure continuity of operations.

- Use AI-enabled tools to support data analysis and reporting.
- Apply prompt-based tools to improve report quality while ensuring compliance with policies.
- Utilize business systems and platforms to extract, analyze, and summarize information.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Completion of secondary education is required.
- Technical or university-level courses relevant to programme or administrative work are desirable.
Work Experience
- Minimum of six (6) years of administrative or clerical experience.
- Experience in programme support functions is an asset.
- Experience in a UN system agency or international organization is considered an asset.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language or a relevant local language is an asset.
