We collaborate with local communities to restore landscapes, create jobs, and mitigate climate change through nature-based solutions like the Rubeho Mountains Carbon Project.
Position Summary
The Finance and Administration Assistant provides foundational support to daily financial operations. The role ensures routine financial tasks—such as transaction recording and payment processing—are accurate and efficient. Additionally, the position supports daily Human Resources (HR) and administrative requirements to facilitate smooth office operations.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Financial & Transactional Management

Bookkeeping: Oversee field accounts payable and general ledger entries; ensure accurate data entry for journals (invoices, payroll, petty cash).

Processing: Handle daily transactions (AP and AR), prepare payment vouchers, and manage expense reimbursements.

Banking: Prepare bank deposits, manage petty cash disbursements, and perform monthly bank reconciliations.

Expense Monitoring: Track recurring expenses and ensure staff advances are cleared according to policy.

Month-End Support: Assist in the monthly and annual close processes to ensure consistency and compliance.
2. Administrative & Logistical Support

Office Admin: Provide general support for finance and HR functions; maintain updated contact lists and office documentation.

Logistics: Coordinate logistics for meetings, workshops, and project events; manage travel arrangements for staff.

Data Analysis: Compile basic financial data for reports or budgets and prepare simple summaries/tables as requested.
3. Internal Controls & Compliance

Regulations: Ensure all procurement and financial procedures align with Eden policies and Tanzanian financial regulations.

Audits: Assist in coordinating financial audits and providing necessary documentation for reviewers.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience
-
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: 1–3 years in an accounting/finance support role (preferred).

Sector Knowledge: Experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly with grants and fund accounting, is highly desirable.

Professional Study: Progress toward CPA, CPA(T), ACCA, or similar certifications is preferred.
Skills & Abilities

Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.

Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in matching invoices to payments and catching numerical errors.

Ethics: High level of integrity regarding confidential payroll and vendor information.

HR Knowledge: Basic understanding of Tanzanian employment laws and HR best practices.
Work Conditions

Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional domestic travel to rural project sites (may include overnight stays).

Schedule: Flexibility is required during peak workloads (e.g., fiscal year-end), though extended hours are infrequent.

Authorization: Candidates must have legal authorization to work in Tanzania; the company cannot sponsor work visas.
