Job Title: Health and Safety Officer

Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. The role is key in supporting the Security Site Manager by implementing and enforcing health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a safety-first culture across the site.

Key Responsibilities:
– Train employees in health and safety procedures and conduct regular safety inspections
– Monitor and enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
– Develop and maintain accident reporting procedures and ensure staff compliance
– Investigate safety complaints and implement corrective actions
– Manage emergency preparedness, including fire drills and equipment checks
– Maintain safety records, checklists, and registers
– Report non-compliance issues and safety deviations to the Health and Safety Manager
– Ensure contractors meet all safety regulations and company standards
– Inspect production equipment and processes for hazards
– Conduct risk assessments and monitor unsafe conditions
– Lead health and safety inductions for new employees
– Promote safety awareness and advise management on risks and infrastructure improvements

Minimum Requirements:
– Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act 85 of 1993)
– Understanding of Construction & Steel Industry regulations
– SAMTRAC certification
– National Diploma in Safety Management
– Proficient in Microsoft Office
– Knowledge of PPE-2-Go systems
– Strong report writing skills
