The Three Transformative Results

The Team Leader will guide the evaluation of progress toward UNFPA’s global mission:

  1. Zero preventable maternal deaths.

  2. Zero unmet need for family planning.

  3. Zero gender-based violence and harmful practices (FGM, child marriage).


 Key Responsibilities

As the Team Leader, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of national experts to:

  • Design Methodology: Develop a robust, theory-based evaluation framework using both qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Team Coordination: Manage and lead thematic experts in Sexual Reproductive Health (SRHR), Gender Equality, and Population Dynamics.

  • Evaluation Coverage: Assess interventions across all of Tanzania, focusing on human rights, disability inclusion, and adolescent/youth integration.

  • Reporting: Synthesize large volumes of data into high-quality reports that meet UNFPA and UNEG (United Nations Evaluation Group) standards.


 Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree: Public Health, Social Sciences, Demography, Statistics, or Development Studies.

  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience in conducting or managing evaluations in international development.

  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading complex evaluations for UN agencies or major international NGOs.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of SRHR, GBV prevention, or population dynamics.

  • Ethics: High commitment to integrity, “do no harm” principles, and gender-transformative approaches.

  • Language: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; Kiswahili is an asset.

  • Analytical Ability: Strong skills in data synthesis and strategic thinking.

  • Payment: Based on UNFPA individual consultant payment guidelines (Grade P4 equivalent).
