Position Overview

The MEAL Assistant (Volunteer) will support the Tanzania country program by assisting in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities. The role focuses on data collection, management, reporting, and community feedback mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitoring & Data Collection

• Support routine monitoring at school and community levels in Tanzania project sites.

• Administer surveys, assessments, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews.

• Ensure collection of accurate, timely, and high-quality program data.

2. Data Management & Reporting

• Assist with data entry, verification, cleaning, and basic analysis using Excel and digital tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK).

• Prepare monthly and quarterly MEAL inputs for internal and donor reports.

• Maintain organized databases and documentation.

3. Evaluation & Learning

• Support baseline, midline, and endline evaluations.

• Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.

• Participate in reflection sessions with program teams.

4. Accountability & General Support

• Document community feedback and complaints mechanisms.

• Track and report feedback from beneficiaries and stakeholders.

• Work closely with field staff to support evidence-based programming.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma (or currently pursuing) in Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies, Statistics, Social Sciences, Economics, or a related field.

• Knowledge: Basic understanding of MEAL concepts and tools.

• Experience: Previous volunteer or internship experience in NGO or community work is an advantage.

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with Excel and mobile data collection tools is desirable.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong attention to detail and data quality.

• Good analytical and organizational skills.

• Ability to work in rural settings; Kiswahili proficiency is required.

• Willingness to travel to project sites.
