About the company:

The hiring company has won a land concession of 20,000 hectares of land in the Mkulazi area (near Morogoro and Ngerengere towns). It is envisaged to invest $264 Mn+ in the project to develop a sugarcane estate and set up a fully integrated state-of-the-art sugar processing facility.

Job Title: Purchase Manager reporting to COO

Location:
Dar Es Salaam

Job Description :

1. Candidate will develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives. Demonstrate knowledge and skill sets for optimization of indirect spending, vendor evaluation, streamlining, and standardization of procurement processes.

2. The candidate will be required to identify opportunities to reduce costs through strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, negotiation, and process optimization while maintaining quality and reliability.

3. Negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure favourable terms and conditions. Monitor contract compliance and manage any contract disputes or issues that may arise.

4. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring favorable terms, pricing, and service levels.

5. Oversee inventory levels to ensure adequate supply while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.

6. Identify and mitigate procurement risks, including supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and geopolitical factors.

Qualification :

1. Candidate must have prior experience of supply chain management/purchase of civil, electrical & mechanical equipment for agriculture projects ( prior experience of sugar cane  projects is a value add ).

2. Candidates with an Infrastructure background and relevant experience of vendor management, and purchase of electromechanical items may also apply.

3. Education

Bachelor’s/ diploma in Mechanical Engineering or certification in supply chain management or master’s in business administration.
