About the Project
Total Exploration and Development Uganda Limited (TEPU), CNOOC Uganda Limited (CUL), and the Government of Uganda have discovered crude oil in the Lake Albert area and intend to develop and build an oil pipeline to connect the Kingfisher area to the Buliisa-Nwoya area, exporting crude oil to the international market.
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project is part of the Lake Albert Development Project — a 1,443 km transnational long-distance pipeline designed to transport crude oil from Uganda to Tanga Port, Tanzania.
The EACOP system includes three components:
- Above Ground Installations (AGIs) – 6 pumping stations (PS-1 to PS-6) and 2 pressure reducing stations (PRS-1 & PRS-2).
- Pipelines – a 1,443 km continuous heated export pipeline (24-inch).
- Offshore storage terminals (MST) – including valve chambers, electric heat tracing (EHT), high voltage (HV) distribution, fiber optic cables (FOC), and substations.
Job Summary
The Scaffolding Technician will be responsible for erecting and dismantling temporary metal scaffolding on structures and construction sites to allow other workers to operate safely at height.
Key Responsibilities
- Strictly comply with company rules and regulations.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and HSE teams to maintain a safe work environment.
- Unload scaffolding equipment at the site.
- Erect scaffolding poles and ensure stable base foundations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
- Participate in root cause analyses and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product and process quality.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Certificate or Diploma in Scaffolding, Construction, or a related field (preferred).
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, company procedures).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Scaffolding Technician in industrial, construction, or heavy equipment environments.
- Experience in the oil & gas, pipeline, or other high-pressure industrial sectors is an added advantage.
- Experience with electrical scaffolding works and compliance with design specifications and safety standards is desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
General Skills:
- Excellent communication and teamwork.
- Strong sense of responsibility and a safety-first mindset.
- Physically fit and able to work in remote, challenging environments.
