One of Tanzania’s 31 administrative regions is the Shinyanga Region, which is known as Mkoa wa Shinyanga in Swahili , the National Language of Tanzania , is region has a land area of 18,555 km2 (7,164 square miles). This region’s size is similar to the nation-state of Fiji’s total land area. The region shares borders with the Tabora region to the south and the Mwanza, Mara, and Kagera regions to the north. Furthermore, it has borders with the Kigoma region on the west and the Simiyu region and a portion of the Singida region on the east. Shinyanga City serves as the region’s capital. 1,534,808 people were living in the region as of the 2012 census.
