Position Overview

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit three (3) HME Maintenance HV Electricians. The role is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high-voltage electrical systems on heavy mobile mining equipment and other high-demand industrial machinery.

This position requires specialized expertise in HV power distribution, motor control, automation systems, and strict adherence to electrical safety protocols. The successful candidate will ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and maintain compliance with regulatory and company standards in a demanding operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. High Voltage Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on high-voltage electrical systems (600V–1000V) in mobile mining equipment.
  • Diagnose complex electrical faults using advanced diagnostic tools, schematics, and test equipment.
  • Work on transformers, switchgear, rectifiers, large motors, VFDs, and automation/control systems.

2. HV Cable and Power Systems Work

  • Execute safe HV cable terminations, testing, and fault location for trailing cables and on-board power systems.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to identify early signs of component degradation.

3. Safety Compliance and Risk Control

  • Strictly comply with all high-voltage safety procedures, including LOTOTO, Permit to Work systems, arc-flash boundaries, and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain heightened hazard awareness while working around energized equipment, underground workings, and other high-risk environments.
  • Ensure all electrical work meets Barrick standards, electrical codes, and mine safety regulations.

4. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Complete work orders, shift reports, and required documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Communicate equipment status, emerging issues, and safety concerns to supervisors and operational teams.

5. Team Collaboration and Knowledge Transfer

  • Work closely with mechanical technicians, operators, engineers, and other maintenance trades to ensure efficient maintenance execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to local electricians, particularly in HV safety and mobile equipment systems.
  • Communicate technical information clearly across teams and to supervisory personnel.

Qualification Requirements

  • A recognized electrical trade qualification, electrician certification, or equivalent electrical license.
  • Specific training or certifications in High Voltage operations, safety, and maintenance.

Experience and Skills Requirements

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience as a qualified electrician, with significant exposure to high-voltage systems on heavy mobile equipment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair advanced electrical faults on large machinery.
  • Experience working with multiple OEM equipment types and diagnostic technologies.
  • Strong understanding of relevant electrical safety standards and regulations.
