Daycare Leader – Job Description

The Rift Valley Children’s Fund is seeking a full-time Daycare Leader to help lead our Daycare Program. Founded in 2004, RVCF is a thriving community-based organization operating the Rift       Valley Children’s Village, and providing free healthcare, high quality education, and micro loans and training to the residents of the Oldeani Ward.

The responsibilities of this position will be split amongst teaching a half day and a half day of administrative responsibilities. The specifics of this job include but are not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support the daily operations of the Daycare Centre including but not limited  to scheduling, curriculum and action plan implementation, appropriate teaching methodology and supervision of staff.
• Enforce and develop English Language only policy for teachers and students.
• Arrange key annual events such as parents meetings, graduation, exams, report cards etc.
• Complete and submit staff annual off day schedules to leadership.
• Carry out regular classroom observations of daycare teachers, giving feedback about how to improve teaching practice. Whilst also supporting professional development seminar as required.
• Work with leadership to ensure government regulations are being followed at all times.
• Work in partnership with leadership to ensure special education planning and support as required.
• Manage student discipline in a non-corporal manner.
• Together with leadership ensure a harmonious working environment between teachers and volunteers.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Lead well planned and engaging lessons/activities for students that follow the curriculum.
• Ensure all students get a morning snack, lunch and conduct nap-time in an orderly and timely manner.
• Supervise students doing play-time and learning centers.

• Prepare and conduct student assessments and completion of report cards as and when required.

• Work in close partnership with our international volunteers to create an interactive learning environment for students.

• Ensure all student/parent information is up to date and is stored properly.

Skills Required

• Pose a qualification that specializes in Early Childhood Development, diploma or
• Experience teaching at English Medium or International School.
• Previous leadership experience desired.
• Competent English Language command.
• Enjoys working with children.
• Clear communicator and hard worker.
• Be flexible to live in a rural setting.
• Right to live and work in Tanzania.
