Job Overview

Tabono Consult Limited is seeking 20 experienced, disciplined, and reliable Heavy Goods Truck Drivers to transport cargo safely between Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The successful candidates should have experience in long-distance driving, cross-border transportation, border procedures, and operation of HOWO and FAW trucks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Long-Distance Driving

• Safely operate HOWO and FAW heavy goods trucks on international routes.
• Undertake long-distance journeys, particularly between Tanzania and the DRC.
• Follow safe driving practices throughout all journeys.

2. Cargo Handling

• Ensure cargo is properly loaded before departure.
• Transport cargo safely and securely.
• Ensure cargo is delivered without damage or loss.
• Take appropriate precautions to protect the vehicle and cargo during long-distance journeys.

3. Border Procedures

• Handle required permits and customs documentation when crossing international borders.
• Follow applicable border and customs procedures.
• Ensure all required transportation documents are available and properly managed.

4. Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections before every journey.
• Check the general operating condition of the truck.
• Identify common mechanical faults.
• Resolve minor mechanical problems where possible.
• Report major mechanical faults requiring specialized attention.
• Ensure the vehicle remains in safe operating condition.

5. Compliance and Safety

• Comply with road traffic laws and regulations.
• Observe permitted speed limits.
• Follow company procedures concerning driving hours, rest periods, and fuel usage.
• Maintain safe driving standards throughout domestic and international journeys.

Required Qualifications and Documents

Applicants must have the following:

• Valid Class E Driving Licence.
• Training certificate in HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle), PSV (Public Service Vehicle), or GDP (Good Driving Practice).
• Valid National Identification Card (NIDA).
• Valid Passport.
• TIN Number.
• NSSF Registration.
• Recent Certificate of Good Conduct / Police Clearance.
• Driving Licence Verification Certificate.

Experience and Personal Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• Experience in long-distance truck driving.
• Experience in cross-border transportation.
• Previous experience on the Tanzania–DRC route will be an added advantage.
• Good understanding of truck systems and operations, particularly HOWO and FAW trucks.
• Ability to work for extended periods on long-distance journeys.
• Honesty and integrity.
• Patience and discipline.
• Ability to work under the demands of long-distance and cross-border transportation.
