Job Title: Executive Chef / Head Chef

Location: Serengeti, Tanzania (Luxury Lodge & Tamu Tamu Tented Camp)

Reports To: Lodge General Manager

Position Type: Full-time | On-Site

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Executive Chef / Head Chef to lead the culinary team at our luxury lodge and the Tamu Tamu Tented Camp, nestled in the heart of the Serengeti. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate, creative, and detail-oriented chef to curate exceptional dining experiences in one of the world’s most iconic safari destinations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen at both the luxury lodge and tented camp.
  • Design and execute innovative, high-quality menus that reflect international cuisine infused with local flavors.
  • Ensure consistency in food preparation and presentation, meeting 5-star standards.
  • Manage food inventory, ordering, and stock control while minimizing waste.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a diverse kitchen team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Maintain impeccable hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards in accordance with local and international regulations.
  • Accommodate guests’ dietary requirements and special occasions with creativity and care.
  • Collaborate closely with lodge management to ensure seamless guest service and dining experiences.
  • Maintain cost control while ensuring premium quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Introduce sustainable and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as an Executive or Head Chef, preferably in luxury lodges, resorts, or high-end hospitality settings.
  • Culinary degree or formal training in international cuisine.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety, kitchen sanitation, and HACCP procedures.
  • Passion for creative menu development and guest-centered service.
  • Ability to work in a remote, multicultural environment.
  • Previous experience in East Africa or similar remote/luxury safari settings is a strong advantage.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and highly organized.
