IT Project Lead

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Job overview

• Management of projects as per the project management policy and procedure.

• Change control management in introducing new systems, products & services, and processes into the company.

• Ensure smooth transfer of knowledge and tools for supporting new products and services introduced in the network from suppliers/developers to support teams.

• Project progress reports.

Roles & responsibilities

• Ensure proper understanding of project requirements and deliverables.

• Ensure that all project deliverables are met as per the agreed timelines and scope. Should delays occur, proper escalations should be made to prevent timeline impact.

• Ensure that all dependencies are identified during the scoping session and accurately captured in the scope of work document or user requirements specification (URS).

• Ensure that the right implementation approach for the project is deduced and agreed upon. Then, ensure that the selected approach is adhered to by all involved teams.

• Ensure that all necessary training and processes required to support the project, product, or service are in place prior to going live—or that existing ones are reviewed to cater to the new service.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience

• Proficient in project management and resource allocation.

• Familiar with IT systems, including PCs, servers, and applications.

• Track record of meeting project deliverables on time and within scope.

• Experienced in change control management for new systems, products, services, and processes.

• Skilled in user acceptance testing and test suite preparation.

• Solid understanding of telecommunications fundamentals and business processes.

• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal abilities.

• Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Must-have technical / professional qualifications

• Minimum requirement: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunication, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems.

• At least 3 years of IT-related experience.

• GSM knowledge is a plus.

• Experience, knowledge, or certification in Project Management (including Agile, PMP, or CSM) is an advantage.
